Alistair Hughes, making his long awaited return as a cover artist (his last original piece appeared on TSV 16), with a Seeds of Doom drawing for the back cover, whilst Peter Adamson drew a Krynoid for the front cover. Both pieces accompanied what proved to be a somewhat controversial article on that particular story by UK-based reader Guy Blythman. The front cover artwork was to have been printed in green, but unfortunately the printers were no longer able to provide this service. The regular comic strip that has now become a feature of most issues made its debut at this point with the Peter Adamson & Paul Potiki Fifth Doctor story The Enigma Magnet. Paul Scoones compiled an article on the making of More Than Thirty Years in the TARDIS which impressed the documentary's director, Kevin Davies, who read this issue on a visit to the DWM office. The issue's interview was unusual, being a transcript of four writers sitting around a table discussing Doctor Who. The fact that the conversation took place in a bar over several drinks may have contributed to the rambling flow of the piece! The participants were David Bishop (who arranged and transcribed the article), Andy Lane, Paul Cornell and Steven Moffat. Moffat's name would have meant little to most readers at the time - now he is well known to fans as the writer of The Curse of Fatal Death.
