"I grew up on sixties television - wonderful shows like Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Lost in Space, Land of the Giants and Time Tunnel - all those wonderful creations from Irwin Allen. A little bit of his influence rubbed off on me." So says Philip Segal in the book seaQuest DSV - The Official Publication of the Series. Interestingly, seaQuest DSV could be said to be an updated version of Allen's Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Likewise, Segal's other SFTV creation Earth 2 could easily be a land-based version of Lost in Space. That only leaves Land of the Giants to be 'remade' by Segal. Ah, but what about Time Tunnel, I hear you ask. Segal did that - in 1996. It was a little time travel movie called Doctor Who...
