Tom Baker visited New Zealand in January and this understandably dominated the content, providing an unexpectedly appropriate subject for TSV's milestone issue. The Wilderness Years, an article on the development of the movie that had been originally prepared for TSV 48 but kept getting shunted out due to lack of room finally saw print. In response to Peter Adamson's article in TSV 49, David Ronayne provided his own views on the depiction of the sixth Doctor in the novels. After appearing in most issues since 1989, Tardis Tales came to a final end with the revelation in the last panel that Saucer was Graham Muir all along. As Tardis Tales bowed out, another popular cartoon strip, The Karkus, made its debut. Alistair provided the cover illustration of Tom Baker at shorter notice than usual, and Tom's signature also appeared on the cover.
